Louvre Museum ceiling - Braque painting, The Birds #49905493
Description
A photograph showing the beautiful ceiling of the Louvre Museum, decorated with golden carvings and a famous artist painting. The former royal antechamber retained its original, richly-carved ceiling, executed in 1557 by the wood-carver Scibec de Carpi. The Cubist painter Georges Braque (1882ââ¬â1963) was commissioned to produce a series of three ceiling paintings within Carpis design. The resulting decorative design, The Birds, was inaugurated in 1953.
