This Burchel's or Plains Zebra with its bold black and white stripes to the underbelly, with a erect black and white mane and it may or may not have'shadow stripes' on the white sections (visible here) depending on the subspecies. There is at times considerable variations in patterning. It favors open woodlands and grasslands. Small family herds consist of one stallion, mares and foals. they feed on grass, occasionally browsing. The reserves are found mostlyin Central Africa eastwards' and westwards towards South Africa.
