Barbados/Bridgetown: Parliament #50660514
Description
The Parliament Buildings - built between 1870 and 1874 - are the seat of the Parliament of Barbados. They consist of two buildings (here the west wing) in neo-Gothic architectural style. The building material is coral-limestone. Many of the windows have louvered shutters to block out sun light. A prominent feature of the west wing is the clock tower with the flag of Barbados. The clock was designed and manufactured by John Moore & Sons of Great Britain (1875). The green cast iron railing surrounding the courtyard of the buildings were made by the British firm Messrs Andrew Handyside & Co. Ltd.
