Description
Wat Pra Singh (Thai: à ¸§à ¸±à ¸âà ¸žà ¸£à ¸°à ¸ªà ¸´à ¸â¡Ã ¸«à ¹Å) is a Buddhist temple located on Thanon Singkhlai in Tambon Wiang, Mueang district, Chiang Rai Province, northern Thailand. Wat Phra Sing (à ¸§à ¸±à ¸âà ¸žà ¸£à ¸°à ¸ªà ¸´à ¸â¡Ã ¸«à ¹Å) is located near the townhall used to house a major Buddha statue, the Phra Buddha Sihing, which is now enshrined in Chiang Mai. Like Wat Phra Kaeo, the temple now houses a replica instead. A special feature is the Lanna-style Ubosot and the wooden door panels carved by Chiang Rai contemporary craftsmen. The Ubosoth contains several replicas of the Pra Singh or Pra Buddhasihing image, a cultural landmark in the history of the Lanka wong Theravada Sect of Buddhism in Thailand.
