Singer/Songwriter Don McLean in concert at Navy Piers Ballroom in Chicago, Illinois, in July, 1980. The occasion was Chicagofest. McLean blended folk music and rock n roll. His poetic lyrics were best remembered in the song Vincent, (Starry, Starry Night) and the song/album, American Pie. On April 7, 2015, Christies auctioned his 16-page manuscript and notes for American Pie, for $ 1.2 million dollars.
