Description
Hoge and Lage der A are the names of the streets in Groningen on both sides of the A between the Brugstraat and Visserstraat. High indicates the high quay along the A on the east side. The low quay is located on the western shore. It is said that the high quay was used to unload ships at high and low at low tide. Until 1877, the influence of the sea was felt in the city. After the damming of the Reitdiep it stopped.
