Description
On the southern end of the Shouf Biosphere Reserve, Niha was first-mentioned in 975 a.D., carved into the rock of a cliff in the Shouf-Mountains southeast of Beirut. It served to control the road linking the Mediterranean Sea, the Bekaa Valley and Damascus. It also served as a hiding place and a refuge.
