Description
Hashima Island, commonly called Gunkanjima (meaning Battleship Island), is former coal mining island. It's one of the oldest coal mine in Japan. Hashima shrine was the place for prayers for the safety and for memorial services for the deceased. Gunkanjima is listed on Tentative list of World Heritage Sites as a industrial heritage.
