Grattan Bridge. Detail of a cast iron lampposts decorated with mythological figures of seahorses (hippocampus). Also called Essex Bridge, is a road bridge with sidewalks built with stone and iron that spans the river Liffey joining Capel Street (on the north side) to Parlamient Street (south side). The current bridge, dedicated to Irish politician Henry Grattan, dating back to 1872, but the first bridge on this river was built in the 17th century
