Cathedral of St. Vasily the Blessed - one of the most famous and iconic sights of Moscow. The name of the temple was in honor of Blessed Basil (who honored himself Ivan the Terrible), buried in the XVI century at the Trinity Church, which stood at that time at the site of the present cathedral. St. Basil's Cathedral was built on the Red Square in the years 1555-1561, according to the traditional version, the master who called: Faster Yakovlev and Barma. According to other versions, it was a man - a well-known master of Pskov Faster Yakovlev nicknamed Barma. Around the cathedral and still hovers many legends. The most famous of them, that after the construction of Tsar Ivan IV ordered blind masters, so that they are no longer able to build anything similar, was not confirmed among historians. St. Basil's Cathedral, in fact, is a nine churches on the same foundation. The cathedral is built of brick, it is rarely used in those days for the construction of churches, and deprived explicit facade: which side you approach the building nor, it seems that it is this is the main party.
