Description
Scrawled Filefish (Aluterus scriptus) on a sandy patch between coral reefs in a clear Caribbean Ocean. Palm Island, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Filefish are also known as leatherjackets and are closely related to trigger fish. They can change colour to blend into their environment. The Scrawled Filefish can be seen in shallow water drifting over the bottom or in deeper water. It feeds on algae,sea-grass and gorgonians reaching a length of up to 110cm.
