According to popular myth it is the birthplace of King Arthur and the castle is well worth a visit as recent excavations have revealed Dark Age connections between Spain and Cornwall, as well as evidence that it was a royal place for the Dark Age rulers of Cornwall. On a clear day the views a long the rugged coastline are dramatic and stunning from the headland above the ruins of the castle.
