Description
St. James's Park is an extension of 23 hectares in the area of Westminster, in central London (UK), is the oldest of the Royal Parks of the city. It is located at the southern end of the St. James, which was named after a leper hospital dedicated to St. James the Less. St James's Park is surrounded by Buckingham Palace to the west, The Mall and St James's Palace north, Horse Guards to the east and south bridcage Walk. The park has a small lake, the St. James-Park's Lake, with two islands, Duck Island (so named because of the collection of ducks Lake) and West Island. A bridge across the lake offers a magnificent view west from Buckingham Palace framed by trees and fountains, and a great view of the main building of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to the east.
