Carcassonne, France. Basilica of St. Nazaire, XI century #57829329
Description
Basilica of St. Nazaire (St Nazaire) in Carcassonne was built in the period from 1096 by 1150, and in 1096 was consecrated by Pope Urban II. Simple and massive Romanesque arches of the nave contrasts with its Gothic choir and transept, built in 1269 on a 1320-built light well graceful chorus reminiscent of the chapel Sainte-Chapelle in Paris. Creating stained glass, some of the best in the south of France, it was necessary for the period from the fourteenth to the sixteenth century.
