Re-Enactment Of Historic Kiss In Times Square Editorial Photo

Steve and Pam Springer of Hagerstown, Maryland, reenact The Kiss. The event was the Times Square Kiss-In held on the Broadway Plaza between 43rd and 44th Streets on August 14, 2015. This marks the 70th Anniversary of Victory Over Japan Day (V-J Day) marking Japan's surrender in World War Two. For a few days, a 25-foot sculpture in back of the pair) entitled, Embracing Peace, by Seward Johnson, was placed some meters away from where the iconic photo of a celebrating sailor in a white hat planting a kiss on a young woman in a white skirt (possibly a nurse's attire) was snapped by the noted photographer, Alfred Eisenstaedt, 70 years earlier. The Times Square Alliance organized the project as part of a series of events honoring World War II veterans.
