Description
Medieval vestiges. It was Dacian settlement (Rumidava) and later, during the Roman occupation, the name was changed to Rupes (rock or stone - in Latin). Rupea fortress advantageous elevated Cohalm Hill, overlooking the upper town, was construc extensive and in centuries XIV-XVII century, as a refuge for the city and surrounding villages.
