The shot was taken from Samosir Island, an Island with only a size difference of 77km from Singapore. The island itself was formed after the eruption of a super volcano some 75000 years ago, which also formed Lake Toba and as of today, the volcano itself is still active. Toba, a short form of Tanah Orang Batak Asli or directly translated to be the Native Land of the Bataks houses many hisotrical stories and cultural values of the Bataks themselves, thus, the reason for my trip to the place. The shot, exposed at f/14 and a shutter speed of 1/250, was composed overlooking the magnificent Lake Toba and the hills surrounding the lake. The lake by itself is the largest volcanic lake in the world and has recently been nominated as one of the 7 wonders of the world this year. Shot from the city of Panguruan in Lake Toba, I had just came down from Lake Sidihoni, a lake within the Lake Toba, and had wanted to find a better view point after witnessing the amazing rays shining on just the sole island shown in the picture
