The famous Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, of the Rocky Mountain National Park was built by Freelan Oscar Stanley of Stanley Steamer fame and opened on July 4, 1909. The Stanley inspired horror novelist Stephen King to write The Shining which later became a very popular 1980 movie by Stanley Kubrick and starring Jack Nicholson.
