American Robin (Turdus migratorius) #6079891
Description

The American Robin (Turdus migratorius), a member of the thrush family, is usually associated with the arrival of spring but, in fact, they can be seen year around in well over half the United States. That's because different migrating flocks winter farther north and summer farther south than others, so that it appears that the same birds are seen all year round. In fact, it is different flocks from different summer/winter ranges that you see from one season to the next. The fact that some migrate as far north as the Arctic Circle in the summer, while others travel as far south as Central America in the winter, is why they can be seen year round in Washington, Oregon, California, all across the southern half of the U. S. and up into the New England states.
