Jim Bales Place Barn Along Roaring Fork Motor Trail #61044409
Description
Jim Bales (born 1869) inherited the homestead from his father, married and lived most of his life there. Later the farm passed onto other family members who erected modern frame house. When the National Park gained control of the land in the 1930s, the frame house was torn down and Alex Cole Cabin, being more representative of the pioneer days of Appalachia. Jim Bales barn is still remained on the sight as well as his corn crib.
