Several mold colonies on a microbiological medium. Molds are microscopic fungi, that grow in the form of multicellular filaments, called hyphae. Some of several thousands mold species cause food spoilage, others are used in industrial processes, some can be pathogenic or are the cause of allergies and sick building syndromes.
