Description
A commanders house is a characteristic house from the 17th or 18th century still breathing the heyday of whale hunting the Northern polar seas. Two ledges with pointed pebbles in the facade (muizentandjes or mice teeth) is the house of a commander. This national monument is the oldest commander dwelling of the island of Ameland. At the background the church tower.
