Le Mans 24 racers diecast models #67175620
Description
Three 1:43 die cast models of Le Mans 24 racer prototypes. Two Porsche (the pink 1971 Pink Pig model and the blue 1970 Gulf model that appears in the 24 hours of Le Mans movie by Steve McQueen) and a more recent Audi R10 (2006). Porsche 917 was for long time the ultimate endurance competitor thanks also to the regulations changes that in 1972 imposed 3000cc engines for endurance prototypes. The record set at Le mans in 1971 by Helmut Marko and Gijs Van Lennep resisted for nearly 40 years beaten only in 2010 by Audi R15 TDI. After their retirement from the World Sportscar Championship at the end of 1971, Porsches 917 were modified and continued racing in various variants in Can Am, IMSA and WSC again till the early eighties Audi, with the R10 continued their dominance on the classic endurance race and started a series of successes interrupted only 10 years later (again by Porsche) of Diesel powered cars winning the race.
