Russian pancakes. Russian pancakes — a traditional dish of the Eastern Slavs, the national version of pancakes. Russian pancakes are prepared from yeast dough and often brew with water or milk (custard pancakes) before baking in a traditional Russian oven. For their preparation often used buckwheat flour. In Europe usually the word pancakes (blini, bliny) is used without translation for Russian pancakes, which differ from the traditional local variants of this dish. Often, pancakes are served with jam or caviar.
