Graves at Natzwiller-Struthof concentration camp, France #68309226
Description
Tucked away up a remote road in the French Vosges mountains is the only concentration camp from WW2 in France. Built to house French nationals who would not toe the line during the occupation, mainly Resistance members, it has an eeriness about it, with distinct references to Polish and German camps and its own gallows! Inmates were forced to work in the local sand quarry. A beautiful setting for a resting place, but one which hardly compensated for the brutal conditions.
