Government House is a landmark building in Canberra, the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and the official residence of Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia. As the Queens representative in Australia, Yarralumia, is located near Federal Parliament and many of the National institutions. Purchased by the Commonwealth in 1913, it became Governor-General’s residence on the relocation of the seat of government to Canberra in 1927. The main building is colonial revival architecture, construction is believed to have started as early as 1859 as a private homestead, Dunrossil Drive, Yarralumia.
