View of ÃÂguas Livres (free waters) Aquaduct, that supplied water to Lisbon, Portugal, between 1748 and 1968. It resisted to the great eathquake (1755) and it is now part of the general museum on the old water supply system to Lisbon. The main arches were built over the Alcântara Valley under projects of the engeneers Manuel da Maia, Custódio Vieira and Carlos Mardel.
