Antietam Burnside Bridge in Autumn #73088425
Description
The Burnside Bridge was a central element in the Battle of Antietam in September 1862. It took three attempts for the Union troops to take the bridge. The bridge was built in 1836 to provide a route across the Aniteam Creek for farmers to take their crops and livestock to market in Sharpsburg. The bridge is sometimes called Rorbach Bridge or Lower Bridge.
