Ratten Weavers perform in the Esala Perahera in Kandy, Sri Lanka. This is one of the most exhilarating dances to witness as the performers rush around in a circular motion whilst moving their rattens up and down to imitate weaving baskets. The Esala Perahera runs every year in late July or early August for ten days, ending on the Nikini poya (full moon) and is held to honour the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.
