Philippines, Mindanao, Horsefight, Esperanza. Thousands of eager spectators come to see stallions fighting against each other during mating season. The stallions are encouraged to fight in the presence of a mare, which is tied to a rope in the middle of the ring, and kept meters away from the clashing pairs. The battle continues until one of the stallions gives up. Contrary to what has often been reported in the main stream media, the horses do not fight each other to the death or even draw blood. Horse fights are held in many regions, like Esperanza in the province of Sultan Kudarat.
