Jews praying at the Western Wall, Wailing Wall or Kotel in the capital city of Israel, Jerusalem. It is an ancient wall in the Old City built with enormous meleke limestone blocks, originally erected as part of the expansion of the Second Jewish Temple by Herod the Great. Due to the status quo policy on the Temple Mount, at present it is the holiest place where Jews are permitted to pray.
