Agasthya Malai, South India Royalty-Free Stock Image

Situated in south west corner of India, in the Western Ghats, on the Tamilnadu, Kerala border. The mountain is the tallest among the nearby 26 mountains, all over 5200 feet. The region is rich in flora and fauna. Nearly 2000 varieties of medicinal plants and herbs are found in these forests, which receive heavy rainfall from both the monsoons. Sage Agasthya, of the Hindu Mythology, is said to have performed penance here and is noted for his practice of herbal medicine. A fairly arduous trek from the base camp, takes one through breathtaking scenery.
