Description
Indian archaeological site of Morro Grande, district of the city of Araruama, in the region of the Lakes. The site was inhabited by Indians tupinambás in the era before the Brazil be colony of Portugal, with confirmed archaeological finds of the year 210 ad. The Municipal school Honorino Coutinho was built on areas already explored by archaeologists and preserves in its students the indigenous culture and the culture of slave descendants who inhabited the region. In addition to the traditional classes of primary school, children learn dances and indigenous handicrafts, and also has a replica of an Indian hollow built on the site. There are still many preserved areas in the region to be searched in archaeological studies.
