Boeing 737 800 Air Berlin landing at Airport Paderborn, Germany #77981195
Description
Air Berlin is in big economic difficulties for years. Last year alone, the company made 446 million euro loss. Cash injections received the airline recently repeatedly by her partner and major shareholder Etihad. Since early 2012, the airline based in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates holds over 29 percent in Air Berlin. Now it is sufficient Etihad apparently. The plan: In the coming months, Air Berlin is expected to part with about 1,000 of its total of 8600 employees. In addition, Etihad should negotiate a broad-based business with Lufthansa: Air Berlin is according to the report some 40 jets including staff at Euro Wings rent, the cost offshoot of Lufthansa. Here Air Berlin itself has no own aircraft more, but has for the summer itself only on leased aircraft back.
