Netherlands, province North Holland, village Heemstede: Cruquius pumping station, named after the Dutch engineer, engineering, NS Cruquius. This pumping station is one of three stations that in the mid 19th, nineteenth, century pumped dry the polder Haarlemmermeer. It is the largest steam engine, steam pumping station in the world and is among the top one hundred, of the Dutch national monuments of the UNESCO. The combination of technology and architecture make it an world class industrial monument, heritage. The huge building is a famous landmark, cultural heritage site, national monument and tourist attraction. Today there is a museum located in it. The balance arms and pistons to pump up the water.
