Cairns Of Laufskalar, Iceland, Where Travellers Leave Stones For Stock Photography

Small cairns on the lava outcrop at the site of hundreds of man-made cairns on the extensive moss covered, rocky lava plains,Myrdalssandur, of southern Iceland called Laufskalar cairns. Travellers have left stones for good luck since the ninth century. The glaciers of Myrdalsjokull highlands can be seen in the background.
