Description
Kinkakuji temple, UNESCO world heritage site, was built in 1397 by Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu as his retirement villa. The gardens are designed as a special national historic and scenic site. The `Sekka-tei` tea house, located in the garden, is famous for its staggered shelves made of bush clover wood, and its Nanten alcove pillar.
