Description
Fort La Chartreuse, Luik, was founded a fort to defend the Belgian city of Liege. It was built by the Dutch in 1817 at Mont Cornillon and came after the Belgian Revolution in 1830 in the hands of the Belgians. The fort has a good strategic position and in the first and second world war under considerable fire taken by German soldiers. During World War II the Germans have used this abandoned fort as a prison. Since 1980, allowing the fort come empty and since nature has taken over. The fort is situated in a public park.
