Michelangelo Pistoletto, Donna che indica Woman Who Points, National Gallery of Art East, Women`s March, Washington, DC, USA #85511104
Description
Women`s March on Washington, January 21, 2017: A record number of demonstrators descended on the nation`s capital to rally against the recently-inaugurated President of the United States, Donald Trump. This worldwide, grassroots movement was a series of political rallies organized for women`s rights as well as a myriad of other causes threatened by President Donald Trump`s rhetoric. It is about 11:45AM and, although the rally is well underway, many demonstrators have retreated inside the National Gallery of Art East Building to take a reprieve from the overwhelming crowds, escape the cold, and use the bathroom. One additional perk of entering the museum is the extraordinary art. Here, Women`s March protesters are reflected in the polished stainless steel of Michelangelo Pistoletto`s Donna che indica Woman Who Points. It`s almost as if this woman is pointing at the demonstrators who stand in place and walk past.
