Most Levadas were built centuries ago by slaves, slave labor. Today, a Levada is for irrigation of farmland and the tourism, tourist, industry. A female hiker walks with rucksack, backpack during her walking holidays such a Levada tour and has thereby to cross over a waterfall and that is dangerous. The abyss, the ravine is deep, so she has to take care. She walks carefully over the stones and stairs.
