Salzburg was the setting for the film of the Von Trapp Family- the Sound of Music. Based on a true story of a nun of Nonnberg Abbey who became an aristocrat when she was aske to be the childrenââ¬â¢s tutor to the Von Trapp Family in Salzburg. Many places in and around the city of Salzburg were used as the settings for the film. Maria Von Trapp married their father and they all escaped the German Nazis to live out their lives in Vermont America where their descendents still live. The Sound of Music became one of the most popular films of all time
