The making of traditional boat Phinisi in Tanaberu, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, Asia #88610059
Description

Feels Like Noah`s Ark. . This kind of feeling comes suddenly when I visit Tana Beru village, Bonto Bahari, Bulukumba, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Five traditional boats called `Phinisi` are still in the making process. The wooden boats are handmade and that`s very special. . All the workers in the shipyard working together without a sketch book, they know what they do to finish the boat, manually!. . It takes about six months till one year to finish one vessel depends on the size. . It`s local wisdom was born hundreds years ago and history notes that Sawerigading was the first who made this kind of ship when he wants to go to China to propose his fiancee, We Cudai, circa 14th century. . The ship is very strong with so many records which shows that she is capable to cross the ocean and come back home safely. . Tana Beru - March 2017
