Description
This was shot at 7th Chandigarh National Crafts Mela, Kakagram, Chandigarh, India. This is a Naga dance. The Naga people are an ethnic group native to the North Eastern part of India. The costume is unique. The headgears are distinct. The dance is fast and energetic. The Naga tribes practised headhunting and preserved the heads of enemies as trophies through the 19th century and as late as 1969. Protestant Christian missionaries from America in the nineteenth century were successful in converting many among the Naga tribes.
