87th Geneva Autoexpo 2017 The Cadillac Escala Concept, a futuristic looking limousine revealed by Caddilac at the Geneva Motor Show 2017. The concept showcases future design plans and new technologies that the US premium brand have in store for us. The name ‘Escala’ is a clear reference to the Spanish word for scale, emphasized by the rather large proportions of the concept. Cadillac is looking to expand its model range with a more expressive companion to the recently launched 2016 Cadillac CT6, currently regarded as the brand’s range-topping sedan. At a length of 5347 mm the Escala is roughly 152 mm longer than the CT6. A large chunk of this overall length is courtesy of the massive wheelbase, ensuring royal interior space for both front and rear seat passengers. The Escala Concept utilizes Cadillac’s new RWD-centric large premium car architecture, featuring one of the world’s most advanced body structures, which debuted on the new CT6. The weight-optimized mixed-material construction enables unprecedented agility and efficiency. Powering the Cadillac Escala Concept is a new 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, a prototype powertrain that is currently in development and might appear in future Cadillac models. The engine is said to utilize active fuel management technology and features a cylinder-deactivation module, something that we see appear more and more in today’s premium and sports vehicles.
