Dowry, a key element in traditional marriage in Africa #89692057
Description
The dowry is an old African tradition and is still practiced as it was centuries ago. More than a prerequisite, it is of capital importance and undisputed to such a degree that the family of the groom and the bride engaged in this way would be shocked at the idea of not adhering to this custom. For the uninitiated, the dowry is a complex and very formal negotiation process between the two families in order to reach a mutual agreement on the price the fiancé will have to pay in order to be able to marry the fiancée. This can be seen as a purchase sale, but this custom is nothing commercial.
