Description
This is a Spring picture of a passenger train crossing the Canal Street Railroad Bridge over the South branch of the Chicago River, located in Chicago, Illinois in Cook County. This bridge was built by the Pennsylvania Railroad, it was designed by Waddell & Harrington, is an example of a vertical-lift bridge, has two sets of tracks, can be raised 111 feet in 45 seconds, and was completed on July 30, 1914. This bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 12, 2007. This picture was taken on April 15, 2017.
