Description
Oenothera Speciosa is a species of evening Primrose known by such names as pink ladies, pink evening Primrose and showy evening Primrose. It is a perennial wildflower native to 28 states. They can be an attractive garden plant but can be invasive. They are a single, four-petaled cup shaped flower. These fragrant shell pink flowers with purple lines bloom throughout summer into early autumn. They start out white and grow pink with age with a soft yellow center. They bloom in the pre-dawn hours and close when full sun hits them. They are drought resistant and prefer loose, fast draining soil. They grow in fields, meadows and along roadsides.
