Description
Water tower. Very tall, red brick, mid 19th century. First two storeys are a caretaker`s cottage; above this, a room for Royal hunting parties to picnic in. The stairs to these are carried in an attached cast iron spiral stair turret. Water tank on top floor; flues from fireplaces on floors below go through the centre of the tank to prevent freezing. Ornamented finials etc. Now preserved by the Landmark Trust, and used as a holiday cottage.
