Symbols of the candle in Catholicism #91850404
Description
Lighted at Mass, candles have special attributes at every ceremony of the Catholic religion. For baptisms, the candle represents the child receiving the light of Christ. At a wedding ceremony, two lighted candles are used by the couple, representing separate lives. The two lighted candles will then serve to light the unity candle, emblem of the two lives together and love. For the celebration of Easter, the Paschal candle symbolizes the all-powerful Christ. The faithful will therefore light small candles from the great candle and will remain lit during the service.
