The `Real Cartuja` or `Royal Carthusian Monastery` in Valldemossa, Mallorca. Originally a royal residence built in the early 1300s, it became a Carthusian monastery later that century. The monks left the monastery in 1835 and it became famous due to Frederic Chopin and his lover, the writer George Sand Aurore Dupin staying there during the winter of 1838-39.
